Chainmail And Glass Die

I've seen plenty of dice bags, but had not seen any chainmail dice, so I thought I would take on the challenge.

Traditional 6-sided die made of bright aluminum rings and glass marbles.

5/16" 18g and 5/32" 18g rings for a total of around 2500 rings, plus 125 glass marbles. It's about 4" x 4" x 4" in size.

It's even usable! Just be sure to roll on carpet!

Holy F#$! you are disturbed! I love this!

I'll take that as a compliment. lol It's quite the conversation piece sitting on the coffee table. Everyone just can't help but pick it up and play with it. Plus, looks amazing sitting in the window on a sunny day.

That's cool! Any chance of you doing some kind of 'tutorial' for it? I can't see me making many, it it would be neat to have one just laying around... maybe the cats would be amused with it.

This is a little big to be practical for anything, but the design itself has infinite possibilities. I have made several keychains that are just 4 marbles, so just 4 squares. I'm actually making a sculpture of a friend's new house out of bronze rings and amber glass marbles. So skies the limit with a scale-able cube design.

Oh, there are chainmail dice out there if you look for them...but this is cool anyway. :) Love the blue marbles!

Link me? All I could ever find are misshapen objects that don't look at all like dice.

Is that a japanese 8 in 2 weave (well its like the rings are in threes instead of twos)? Also is there anything in the centre or is it just layers of chainmail?

Not sure I've ever seen Japanese 8-in-2, but there are 125 marbles, so a 5x5x5 marbles, so yes marbles all the way through the center too.

Well I came across it on this chainmail community called maille artisans or something they have a huge weave archive that people have also posted they're own weaves. Anyway the cube in my profile pic is 8 in 2 Japanese weave. It's very easy to find if you type 8 in 2 cube its like one of the first 3 or 5 links.
