For what your doing a larger piece of steel with a flat surface should work.
If you know someone with a machine shop bar drops can often be hand cheap.
A few inches of axel will if you can cut them square.
After lurking in these forums for quite a while, I finally got around to making an account because I wanted to ask a question:
I have the basic pliers/boltcutters and the rest already in stock but I will be moving from butted chainmail to riveted and now I need some extra equipment :).
For making riveted chainmail, what would you recommend for me anvil-wise? (Europe)
(This is hobby- related so I don't need anything 'industy'-grade)
Awesome. Now next time add one ring to each layer so it will be 16. That will make it just loose enough to make fitting larger candle or candle holders and allow you more color combinations since it will be an even number.
