    Scale sizes

I broke down and ordered some of every size along with the rings to assemble them. Here's a comparison picture, all BA the rings are the suggested sizes for each scale also in BA. Machine cut except for the smallest which is saw cut.

    First TRL order in years

Well it came today. Half of the plastic rings are together and I've been eyeballing the scales pretty hard too.

    First TRL order in years

My first order was almost 10 years ago. I ordered a bundle they don't offer anymore and sample lots. I had loads of fun with it. Start slow and ease into it. Your hands will thank you.

Next order will be pliers. I can find one TRL branded flatnose and one TRL needle nose. I'm thinking about chisel tips so I can do something with my 24 gauge SS and gold. I've been wanting to make a Byzantine sheet ring.

    First TRL order in years

I've been mostly out of the hobby for years but now that I'm divorced and single I have bucketloads of time so I made an order of playthings. Scales, plastic rings and such. I also got a bag clasp for a dice bag to hold my dungeon dice and mini for my biweekly D&D games. I'm looking forward to it arriving.

    Scale sizes

I remember getting a sample grab of scales several (6-8 years ago) of scales but now there are so many more sizes. Does anyone have a picture of all the current sizes lined up so I can see the differences. Reading the sizes listed just doesn't give me a sense of scale. I'm a much more visual person. How many sizes are there now anyway? Tiny, small, medium, large, extra large, is that all of them?

    Gloves, easiest way?

Mostly Im using it as an excuse to make something and to protect him as he learns. I keep the knives sharpened to a very fine edge. not a razor edge because I'm unwilling to put that delicate of an edge on a duty knife. My razors get sharpened to a 12k or 20k synthetic hone. I stop at 6000 for detail knives and 3000 for heavy choppers. He is off for a few weeks to spend time with an ailing grandfather so I have time to figure it out. Hes not aware of whats in the kitchen with him. he has backed into people and dropped his knife, cutting himself, slipped and cut him self, and forgotten the basic law of sharp things. Dont put parts you want to keep between the sharp part and a solid object. It isn't a very large kitchen and we dont make large quantities so his learning is slowed because of the lack of work. So machine welded with butted rings building the shape around the sheet?

    Gloves, easiest way?

Its been quite awhile since I've been on here. I'm currently working as a cook and my assistant is a klutz with a knife. I spend more time doctoring him than cooking some days. I was going to make a chain glove out of 24g stainless to use on the left hand while cutting to protect against accidental bloodloss. We have some cloth cut gloves but I have seen them cut through and if anyone could do it, it would be me and my assistant. My main question is, would it be much easier to buy sheets of machine welded and hand weave them into gloves or to make the glove from loose jump rings? Any pros or cons to either method?

    Non Chain project

I'll soon be starting a wire project. I have this engagement ring: If I get a yes out of it I'm going to start making turks head knot rings as wedding bands in this style: Just maybe not with that color of gold. I'm going to try to make both a man's ring and a woman's ring by making the man's ring bigger like this: I'm getting some cheap walmart craft wire this evening to start practicing and experimenting with to get what I want out of it. I'll have to get some good wire in a few months.

    New User Thread

I have been gone long enough to be considered new. Lets see since I was last one here I've had 3 different jobs, a second boy child, a divorce and pretty soon I'll be engaged again (I hope). Hopefully I won't fade into the black again.

I've recently started getting into leathercraft and ham radio. My hands hurt me when I try to maille so I haven't been doing near as much. I am teaching my wifes cousin some of the beginner weaves but, my own projects stand neglected.

    denim holster.

Here are more pictures after the revisions I made to it. I didn't do much. Tightened the loop and put lines of zig zag stitch on the fin to stiffen it some more. As long as its tied on good it works fine. Too floppy if its just Hung on a belt. It would be perfect if I had sandwiched a piece of 1/8th inch dense foam inbetween my layers of denim but it is only temporary.

    denim holster.

That's just a phone photo. I can't tell how big it is. It's only a temporary holster, I don't think it would hold up for more then a year but its washer and dryer safe. I'm going to make the loop smaller because the weight of the gun true to pull thru. I already have added some more lines of stitching on the fin looking part of it to help stiffen it for draws and holstering.
