    Growler wrap!

I'm always looking for things to wrap in chainmail. Up until now its been mostly coffee cups and bottles. I found this 64oz growler on clearance at our local grocery store, I think it was $15-16 bucks. I had a lot of these patches of byzantine hexagons filled with Japanese 12-2 from a previous failed sporran attempt that needed to be repurposed. I'm also in the middle of trying to use up all my rings before I order more. The top is 8 hexagons and it spreads out into 12 hexagons which was really loose and had me worried it wouldn't fit properly but once it was tightened down on the bottom it barely moves. Now to take it to the local brewery and get it filled! Rings are 16G 5/16", 18G 1/4", and 18G 3/16" all square qire stainless form TRL.

    Armor Stands

I wanted to get my shirts up off the floor and off of the work bench so I made some armor stands for them. We haven't had 4x4 lumber here of any sort for months so I screwed two 2x4's together, made a modified base where two legs on the x axis were shorter than those on the y axis so that they didn't stick out as far from the wall (of course I screwed one of the up and put the legs on the wrong sides), and I had an 8 foot dowel rod for another project that I cut down to 22" segments to drape the shirts on. All I needed was the 2x4's and the stain/polycrylic, everything else I had. The stands are 4 feet tall and I left plenty of room for a couple of coifs to be added to each one. I've got a ton more room on my work bench for larger projects as these stands keep the shirts up out of the way perfectly, now all I need is for TRL to restock the rings I need to make the coifs and I'm good to go. I have 2 other shirts I'm working on so when I get rings for and finish those I'll probably add another stand or two.

    Armor Stands

Thanks. I like how they turned out, may have to make some more one day. It was a fun project!

    Armor Stands

I only made them 4 feet tall for display. This made me able to get them off my worktable and out of the way. If I was making a stand so that I could work on a shirt I would definitely make it taller. As Konstantin said I always found working on shirts in patches to work for me.

    Armor Stands

One is 16G 1/4" square wire rings in E4-1 (short-sleeved one), one is 18G 3/16" square wire rings in trinity (long sleeved one), and the vest is 16G 3/16" round wire rings. All the rings are machine cut and I actually think they're available but the rest of the ring order I want to make was missing a few sizes. The shirts were all made years ago just to do them, not hobby related beyond chainmail. And yeah, a lot of forums are slow nowadays (at least a lot of the ones I frequent). And I dont get to share much thats chainmail related anymore because all my time is spent working on designs for my website at maillewerx dot com. Actually making chainmail fell by the wayside for a bit d/t focusing on that.

Does anyone have any of these laying around that I can buy off of them?

    Celtic Mandala Tshirt

This design fought and fought but eventually I prevailed. Personally I think it came out great. If you wanted to make one of your own TRL's 16G 5/16" and 18G 3/16" rings should work for this Celtic mandala.

    tapestry project

    This thing is so awesome!
  12. It took me a bit to get this design right but I like the way it looks on the blanket. Now to work on the Irish flag just as soon as I get my computer back from my wife.

    First successful 3d byz render

For me it all depends on the ring size. 18G 5/32 looks great with 2 connector rings whereas 18G 3/16s looks better with three imo.

    tiny inlay

TheChainNerd on Facebook has a bunch of nice inlays, I want to say he uses 18G 5/32" for his inlays.

    Coffee Cup Wrap

Working on a new coffee cup wrap! 18G 3/16" SS using interwoven byzantine hexagons. Turning out pretty cool. Theoreticaly it should hold itself on to the coffee cup without assistance but we will see! Check out MailleWerX for more. App development

Im in the middle of making a mobile app for my store and I was thinking of doing a few things with it. 1. Include ring suppliers in a directory, like TRL 2. Include other maillers chainmaille stores in a directory 3. Feature other peoples work on the app. 4. Make tutorials for or have someone elses tutorials available on the app, or include multiple tutorials from various sources. This would include push notification capability that would allow businesses who are listed on the app and have an announcement to make to be able to notify everyone who has the app downloaded to their phone. My questions are: 1. Should I just make the app for my store and then make a second app with all of the rest of the content on it? 2. What type of offer should I make? I was thinking $10 a month to be listed with push notifications for announcements etc. 3. Should I make the video tutorials myself instead? Its a lot of work, I could do it, but Id rather help someone whose already doing it as Im good at building apps and have no idea how good I would be at doing tutorials. Any thoughts or questions to help think this through are appreciated!!

  19. I recently started my own website to sell my stuff at www.maillewerx.com, so I changed my profile name here as well to reflect that. just FYI. I haven't posted here in some time and am just getting back to mailling full time to increase products on my store. Going to be making a large ring order soon I hope. I'm curious to know what's been selling for you guys? Now that I have my store up I need to stock it and am looking for more ideas! Once I have it all up and running I am planning on building an app for it to help keep my customers around, that way when I make something I can just upload a picture of it to the app and send out a notification to everyone that has the app on their phone and hopefully I'll make a sale!

    Bristol Ren Faire, anyone?

So I realize this post is 4 years old but I just moved to Kenosha about 5 minutes away from Bristol by crow. If anyone nearby sees this post I'd love to meet up at some point whether its at the Renfaire or somewhere else. Whitesmoke

Just moved up to this frozen wasteland because of work, had to leave my nice warm home of San Antonio. Anyone in the area and/or want to meet up somewhere? Whitesmoke

    Kenosha, Wisconsin

Yep, its a real place. I've pretended to care about football and the Packers to get an 'in' with the locals. It's in the 50's today but its supposed to freeze over next week sometime then apparently its a frozen wasteland until May.

    WTB old large stainless scale

I'm in the middle of a move across the country so everything is packed for now but PM me. I think I may have the older scales and may also be willing to get rid of them.
