    glove outer

For my excercise in insanity, I present a pair of gloves made from 18ga 5/32" stainless steel rings. They have a wide range of motion with expansions located on each knuckle. I will be replacing the rings on the palms with leather so I can actually grip an object with them.

    glove outer

As a rough estimate, about 11,000 rings to make the two gloves. Aside from lack of being able to grip anything firmly, I really like how they turned out. I was going to replace the rings on the palms for leather, but decided on making another pair with that in mind from the start. I couldn't brign myself to take these apart, hah.

My second attempt at a scalemaille bag, this time using a 8" purse frame. Made with a mixture of gold/silver anodized aluminum small scales and lined the interior with leather.

Thanks! Yeah, the scales around the frame edge could catch. I ended up adding a border with brown leather to cover those edge scales, which also adds a nice contrast.

    So I made a bag

First time posting, long time lurker. I've worked on and am currently working on a bunch of projects, with thanks to a relatively new hobby. At one point or another, I decided to make a scale shoulder bag for my sibling and I wanted to share the result... Bag dimensions are roughly 12" x " 2" x 11" Used about 550 large aluminum scales, linked together with 16ga, 5/16" ID stainless steel rings The inner bag lining and stitching was deer leather. I also used 1.5" wide, 1/8" thick, cow hide as a structural backbone for attaching the scale mail, inner lining, and 1.5" ID strap rings. Starting off with the most important part and eventually attaching them to the leather backbone. Showing the underside of the inverted bag where I temporarily stitched the zipper to the bag opening. Starting to attach the inner liner and the zipper layer to the backbone. With the inner lining finished I'm ready to close this thing. Finally, the finished project! Now I just need to make a strap for it.

    So I made a bag

As much as I'd like to make a strap out of ring mail, I'm leaning towards leather to keep it as light as possible. Empty weight is about 5lbs.
