  1. A few weeks ago I bought the small scales (nickel plated mild steel) from theringlord site and I have a few left over (like 1,000) from a project I've been working on ( making a scale mail mantle). I was wondering if anyone has a link on how to attach scales to leather gloves? or even chainmail? I just want to try it out and see how it goes. It's not for combat or anything. Do I just make a pattern the size of the wrist area (for example) and just punch holes where the edges would touch the glove and then use thick leather laces or something to tie it down? You know what I mean? I have the rest of the week off from work, so I thought I'd try this out. Thanks.

    Adjusting The Armpit

I find that my chainmail shirt is a little tight around the armpit. I can't really move my arms around as freely as I would like. What can I do to make some room in the armpit? I've never joined sleeves to a shirt before so I don't know what to do in that area. Is there a site I can go to that shows what to do? Do I just try to expand the area? Any tips on this would be great. I CANT POST PHOTOS, CAMERA IS BROKE If you have nothing useful to post, don't.

    What Kind of Rings?

What kind of rings should I use for making chainmail? I currently have a hauberk that is galvanized. Should I just stick with that. Or try a new sort of ring. This is the first time for me trying to make any sort of chainmail. So I want somethings that is strong, corrosion resistant and a pretty low price. Maybe Stainless Steel?? Also, is there any difference between machine cut and saw cut? Which one should I opt for? And what about the Spring Steel rings? How about those? lol lots of questions. Thanks.

    6:1 Chainmail

I want to start making my own chainmail. I own a 4:1 hauberk (bought it, didn't make it). I had to make adjustments around the neck so I had some extra rings. I practiced how to do a 4:1 but then I found that there are other patterns like 6:1 and 8:1. I tried 6:1 and I love it. It looks great and will protect much better. The rings I have are galvanized and are 3/8 ID, which is kind of tight for a 6:1. What ID sizes rings should I use? I want it a little tight, but I want to be able to move pretty easy with it. I want to order some rings today.

    First Time Owning Chainmail

I've recently bought a Butted Chainmail Shirt. My problem with it, is that it kind of digs into my throat. What can I do to adjust the mail so it doesn't do that anymore? Do I expand the neck area? Do I make it into a V-neck? Any tips on taking care of chain mail would be great. Thanks.
