  1. I know already hands down that Hand made coils are the smartest way to go. Yet since I live in an apt and dont have all the tools nor money to buy what I need, such as a drill. I wanted to ask if anyone has bought the Uncut coils from TRL. They run for about $2.49 per lb. How long of a coil/how many rings would I get out of a lb. Would it be cheaper/smarter to just save up and buy the tools I need? Or should I just buy a bunch of Pre cut? Advice is helpful.

    Needed, Anodized Teal Jumprings!

Hey all. I am looking for Teal jumpings for a few custom orders, (residing for san jose, CA. team colors for hocky). I am trying to get my hands on ring size 18swg 1/4"ID. I know there is teal in Niobium, yet its a bit costly, and to me seems like a light blue more less. Thanks in advance for the help! ~Colt P.S. (I have sent about 45 items with a family member over the holidays. and today and yesterday, he sold over $300 worth! ^__^ )

    Coif Help?

Hey Everyone! So I need some help/advice. I have been wanting to start a chain project for a while now and I've decided to go with a coif. Not the easiest I know, but I'm up for the challenge. However, I have been looking online for a good hour or so trying to find instructions, or a pattern or anything for making a coif, and I cant find a thing. I have found a few on partial coif or complete open faced coifs. Does anyone know where I can get some good instructions/tutorial on making one? Also I have a read a lot of different opinions on what size and gauge wire to use, what would be the best and most historically accurate to use? Thanks! Josh
  4. Hello - I want to make a wallet/purse and could use some advice. Like what type of rings should I use, what kind of weaves... pretty much everything. I'm an ambitious girl - I started weaving only about 5 days ago and have already made a half dozen scale flowers, a couple Celtic star pendants, and a handful of the holiday ornaments from the instructions on TRL. I'm now working on a scale candle! I thought I might like doing this but I didn't realize how much I would love it! I'm making most of the above for Christmas presents and started so early because I thought it would take me a lot longer than this to complete and wanted to be done by Christmas. Yeah - at this rate I'll be done before the next week is out. That in mind I don't think I could do anything too advanced but I'm not against a nice challenge! I'd like to make something large enough to fit my cards, ID, and maybe some cash that would lay flat. I'm thinking roughly two and a half by three and a half inches? Would that be large enough? I don't want people to be able to look at the bag and see what I have inside too easily so the weave should be fairly tight - or small rings? - at the same time I'd like it to be malleable so would a looser weave and the use of the small scales be a better choice? As for closing I'm thinking a fold over flap... Lastly - the strap! I'd like a long shoulder strap so what weave would you all recommend for that? -- Edit: accidentally hit post too soon!
  5. Hello, I would like to make a 6 inch by 6 inch swath of 6 in 1 european chainmail. I am interested in the stainless steel punched rings that are 16g Wire diam. 0.062" 1.6mm 3/8"ID I see that the bag contains 300 rings. Would that be enough to make a 6 inch by 6 inch swath? Also, I am interested in the small stainless steel scales and like the chainmail, I would like to make a 6 inch by 6 inch swath. How many scales would I need for that and is it possible to rivet the rings with the scalemail? My last question is what size of rivets would I need to make riveted chainmail/scale mail? I am doing this for college in a "how to speech" so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time!
