here's my newest piece. it took way too much time and left me crosseyed at least three times lol

don't know the total count, i know that the square units are built over red anodized aluminum 18g 3/16
small rings are non tarnish silver enameled copper left over from a wedding set i did 20g 1/8 and there's a few rings in there (used to attach one to the other) that are somewhere between the 3/16 and 1/8 range, not sure what exactly cause i made them on the spot with my round nosed pliers :P but they are 20g

the eye shaped pieces are just glass beads from michaels, i have some little bi-cone swarovskis in red. and the centerpiece is a 23mmx18mm red garnet zirconia i picked up on ebay. i love how it throws the light.

and yes, looking at it, i can see some closures that aren't the greatest and it looks like the zirconia is crooked lol, it was a quick photo session cause i was so stoked at finally getting it done.

lord knows what the next thing will be. this damned thing took forever. and each time i finish one project, i come up with another that is even more maddening.

That is truly a statement piece. Is it a necklace or bracelet? I can envision it on a woman's neck when she is wearing an off-the-shoulder gown.

it's a collar. my necklace display piece is too narrow to properly display it. this is just a quick photo anyway, i'll get a picture of someone wearing it in the near future

I like the way it drapes across the shoulders rather than around the neck in the picture. It would make a nice collar attachment for a boat-neck collar.

i don't think it's long enough and the weight would probably be an issue. it's surprisingly heavy

It would be really nice if you could find a way to keep the look of the way it is draped in that picture. I think it really adds to the elegance of it.

well i'm sure that by extending it a bit that would help, perhaps making it so it attaches to spaghetti straps on a dress or something?

That is one way to do it, and probably the safest. I was imagining something like holding it in place with safety pins from the back side of the fabric.

My initial (and erroneous) thought was to simply drape it across the shoulders with counterbalancing chain running down the back (like in the 1920s) but that would not keep the drape spread out across the front the way you would want.
