Vidar Report post Posted December 9, 2015 Ok, I got a pattern to try out and it involved making a "ring" of HP3-1. I got the chain done, but connecting this thing is driving me nuts. I was away from maille for a few years and man I just can't remember how to pull this one off. frustrating to say the least... ARGH Ok, rant over... 1 Euar reacted to this
TitaniumMithril Report post Posted December 10, 2015 the hps are tough to connect end-to-end (4-1 is even worse). but keep at it and you'll get there. ;-)
MailleWerX Report post Posted December 12, 2015 Can you practice with larger rings? I find that helps. Whitesmoke
losthelm Report post Posted December 12, 2015 see if this helps. mailleartisans.org/articles/articledisplay.php?key=727org it should bring up Phong joining HP 3 in one tutorial zili.de/tut/hp-on-a-wire .htm Should bring up zili's HP 3 in 1 on a wire. I use this method with wire or string to stabilize the weave when join finger rings and such. I cound copy and paste the links so there maybe a typo throwing everything off, mailleartisans.org you should be familure with zili.de is obviously a german webpage, and a member of both webpages. Good luck
Studio Castile Report post Posted January 10, 2016 I almost always weave my hp on a string/wire. It just goes faster, for me, even more so than the speed weaving method. I've always found hp weaves though are something you just have to practice with until you can really see what the weave is doing and understand it. At that point it is far less of a headache to see what is wrong or right.
Eric Report post Posted March 7, 2016 For connecting strands of HP, I use rings that are opened in the opposite direction from my usual weaving, i.e. left-handed helix vs right-handed, and I open them about twice as much as usual so I can corkscrew them into position. I also swear a lot during the process.
