Arizona Chainmail Gathering

Recommended Posts

I was wondering what kind of interest there would be for an Arizona Chainmail Gathering? I can host an event, grill some dog/chicken/burgers and some veggie food. I got 6 acres about 30 miles west of Casa Grande that y'all can pitch tents on, if people intend to stay the night and don't want to stay at the casino (about 15 minutes away from my house). I'm also willing to travel up to 120 miles or so for a more centralized location if people have a better location.

I was thinking around October when the weather turns cool again.

I'd be in, if I have my license by then. I think I have a 2 week break in October, too (if I don't switch to an online school).

What kind of stuff should I bring? Just chainmail stuff I've made/am making?

Arizona gatherings never spark much interest, perhaps we should all take a road trip to Vegas and hold it there?

Nobody's much interested in Vegas either, it seems. We're just unloved on the west coast. :)

I'm interested, I'm also starting up different classes for dif. types of students. So maybe by Oct. I'll have a mailler or two who'd be into a gathering.

There's several other maillers around here now but I'm not sure they're into camping. Personally I'd love to get away for a day or two and get into mailling and hanging out with others who have the addiction, and I'd love to meet you all.

Keep this bumped up, maybe others will see it. I rarely check the gatherings for anything going on in Az. just because there hasn't been anything in the last few years.

I'd offer my place but I'm in a fairly small triplex, and it's been so windy outside this year.

Where in Vegas? Personally I'm all for staying away from traffic and smog.

Making it more than just one day would be great also.

Also I'm carless ( mountain bikeless too, since some thief wanted mine really bad last fri. night) so I'm looking at buslines unless I get lucky and find a cheap car, which I'd be lucky to find one I could travel very far in. Who knows what could happen by Oct. though.

For the AZ gathering, we need to find out what city everyone lives in, and find an equal distance place, or big enough house/place to hold it.

mmmm.. grilled dog. wild or domestic..? wild is so...tough.. but domestics usually eat lousy food.. it's a toss up.

honestly, i've never seen "grilled dog" as an advertising technique.

usually people say, "buffalo stew" *winkwink*

if it weren't for the goats i'd be interested.. but, someone needs to feed and milk.

Ahh leave it to Kim to confuse the newbies.

You do seem to throw a wrench into the brains of those who have not been indoctrinated into the world of "sakredchao".

Bump....

sakredchao,

remind me if we ever meet up not to challenge you to finger wrestling

(I'm the champ around here)

between mailling and goats....

and actually I prefer catfood over dog anyday.

or for those of us who are a little more civilized I think cooked cow of some sort would work just fine.

I will start this......

I vote for either sept 15th or 29. or Oct. 13. I have shows every other weekend.

I have a bad back so do not want to camp, but where you are at there are some hotels, right? The casino is there.....(trying to remember area).

I was thinking we could all get together talk, maybe BBQ and what else do you want to do? Anyone up for some teaching? classes? workshops?

I figured that we'd just meet for about 4-5 hours. Hang out, do some grilling. Maybe a beer or two for people of age. I only tossed out the camping thing for people travelling huge distances and don't want to spend money for a hotel. From New River, it's just about a 2 hour drive to my house.

It's still really hot here in September. I'd think October 13 would be a good date.

Oh honey the way I drive....1 1/2 hours....LOL!!

This sound like SO much fun. I am excited to meet other people who understand the ADDICTION called chain maille!!!!!!!!!!!

I just read all of the posts on this subject, and if people want to meet here that would be cool. I am not too far off I-17 and seem to be in the middle of everyone. Just throwing this out!!! We have a pool and large patio area and if people want to camp, there is room.
